Anggota Brimob Tewas Ditembak Saat Patroli

Seorang anggota Brimob Briptu Ronald, Selasa (7/2/2012) tewas ditembak gerombolan bersenjata saat melakukan patroli rutin di area PT Freeport Indonesia.

Anggota dari Detasemen B Brimob Timika itu, menurut keterangan Kepala Polda Papua Irjen B.L Tobing, tengah menjalankan patroli rutin di area kerja perusahaan tambang tersebut.

Menurut B.L Tobing, Briptu Ronald ditembak oleh kelompok bersenjata yang selama ini dicari oleh polisi. Ia menduga, kelompok yang menembak patroli polisi itu adalah kelompok separatis yang dulu dipimpin oleh Kelly Kwalik.

Dari informasi yang dihimpun dari masyarakat, patroli polisi itu ditembaki saat mereka melintas di tanggul timur. Seusai penembakan, korban langsung dilarikan ke Klinik Kuala Kencana.

Kepala Polda Papua Irjen B.L Tobing mengatakan, saat ini di tengah medan yang sulit, polisi tengah mengejar para pelaku penembakan. Sebelumnya, pada tanggal 9 Januari lalu, dua karyawan kontraktor yang bekerja untuk PT Freeport Indonesia juga tewas ditembak di jalur penghubung antara Tembagapura-Timika.

Subject:		East Levee Security Incident

At about 9:00 local time this morning, we received report of a shooting incident near the East Levee Road fatally injuring one police officer.

Police and security personnel are on the scene investigating the incident. Access to the East Levee Road has been closed temporarily during the investigation period.

We want to extend our condolences to the family of the officer who lost his life.
